How to Create a New World Currency

world-currenciesChina and Russia appears to be coming together for a common cause – to create a new world currency.

This new direction going into the G20 Summit is gaining momentum and seems to be growing louder than the battle by the American and some European nations call to win the battle over Tax Havens.

Here’s a little tongue in cheek look at how to create a New World Currency.

* Piss everyone in the world off with unwanted wars.

* Drive oil prices through the roof – along with commodities prices too.

* Deplete world’s pre-eminent currency (US dollar) reserves and print more money at will to pay for all that (some say yes, good idea they need to eat and pay the bills today, others are not so sure).

* Have the biggest financial fallout (some say the 1930′s was the biggest, but few remember that today) in history causing many billions of dollars from other countries to get wiped out too – more pissing off.

* Global economic regions have been working to establish their own working currencies – Euro, Asian Currency Unit (ASEAN), Yuan (China), but all are using the US Dollar as their main basis to work against.

* Is the US Dollar going out of style? Afterall, as economists aptly point out, mst of the “US Dollars” on the books are really just electrons on computer screens. There really isn’t enough real gold or cash currency to back that up.

* Or is it just the other economic superpowers wanting to get noticed (and they have very legitimate economic muscle) and get a piece of the world currency power or are they just, well, more than a little annoyed?

Here’s what Larry Kudlow of The Kudlow Report on CNBC is saying about a New World Currency:the-kudlow-report-cnbc

“Going into the G-20 international meeting in London, the Chinese and Russians appear to be coming together in a call for a new world currency backed by gold. I really like the idea of reinserting gold into the world monetary system.”

“I was talking to Art Laffer… remarked that if helicopter Ben Bernanke continues to print new dollars, we’re gonna need a new world currency. And he agreed with Mundell that putting gold back into the world currency calculus is a good idea.”

“Incidentally, Art believes the best thing the G-20 nations can do at the London conference is to not coordinate policies. He thinks policy coordination will probably produce bad policy. He’s in favor of tax competition among nations, including so-called tax havens that the Europeans and Americans want to abolish. I totally agree. In fact, we ought to make the U.S. a tax haven by slashing the corporate tax, declaring a two-year capital-gains tax holiday, and moving towards a low-tax-rate flat tax. ” Read More…

If that ever happens, can you just hear the deafening cheers???

Watch Larry Kudlow on The Kudlow Report on CNBC at 7pm Weeknights.

But it appears the G20 Summit is not ready to talk about it – yet – bdnews24 has this to say…G20 not ready yet for new world currency debate :: Business …

Moscow has called outright for the G20 to start looking for alternatives to the dollar as the world’s main reserve currency, and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev renewed that call over the weekend. …

Please add your opinions – I don’t mind a cheeky take on this issue either.

Money Wallet Half Full Or Half Empty

Money In Wallet Is That Enough?

Money is something we cannot do without. Looking at my own wallet, it is half full or half empty? Well, it really depends on the situation - not dissimilar to the metaphor of the half glass of water.

A sudden trip to a favourite snack store served to highlight the situation. There really wasn’t enough to buy the whole big package to feed an army – which was really necesssary. How many people runshort of money trying to feed their kids in these tough times?

But some juggling of the order did result in getting just enough although it also took out the last of my coins in my pocket too.

But the point here is getting by and doing what was necessary to achieve the desired result right? Even if getting by with less. I’ve just proven to myself that having much more money in the wallet does not mean you can get exactly what you need, but simply knowing that you can be managing money better around your expenses and yet make ends meet while reducing your actual costs; became a deja vu lesson for me.

Certainly, complacency has no place in such a time of financial emergency.

Desperate Money Making Tip

Throw me a lifeline – give me a money making tip. Well it really depends if you need quick money and how much. What will you do when desperation strikes you?

snow-ice-removal

The Problem

This man on the freezing streets of Toronto this wintery day was in dire need of a place to call shelter. He had several problems why people simply ignored him: his open approach on the streets made him seem like a pan handler; he dressed too well and was well groomed not appearing in need; he seemed too self sufficient; the recession made most people avoid someone who asks for – a Job! All this young man wanted was to earn money – even if just a little, so that he could travel to Vancouver to be with his family. Obviously frustrated, but still looking for that elusive piece of work that will take him home.

The Quick Analysis

Well, let’s see what this desperate guy needed to get to his objective. Chet needed a warm meal, some immediate transport, a shelter, then perhaps a simple job that paid cash so that he could be on his way as quickly as possible.

The Solution

The warm meal was easily dealt with at the local Chinese food eatery (they often serve full meals at little cost). Offering my game plan, he took it and at the nearby YMCA headquarters, we got him some emergency help with local bus tickets; borrowed some work boots and gloves – yes, he was going to work for an outfit that uses manual labour to help people clear their walkways of ice and snow, run errands for the infirm and elderly and such. Yes, he even found shelter for free with this employer as they have a place set up in town for their workers because of the very heavy snow fall and cold.

A Money Maker Found

I did not expect this, but Chet called 3 days later to say good-bye still with $200 in his pocket and was leaving by greyhound bus. This young man was willing to work basically round the clock to make some extra money. I can’t help but think this is an example of the character that will succeed come what may, with just a little prod, just a little direction, just a little helping hand.

It’s a shame he went to another city so far away – I would have hired him if he was staying around town. Good luck young entrepreneur!

Now, how would you deal with your own financial problems as they arise? Give us your own money making tip!

Money To Spare.

What economic slowdown? They have money to spare. Sales have actually been brisk throughout December of 2008, albeit at enticing discounts. This should alleviate cash flow problems with retailers.

boxing-day-crowds-shopping

And during boxing day and boxing week sales have again been brisk. And if you’ve tried getting a parking spot during this holiday season in the shopping malls, wait and then fight for your spot is the order of the day.

All the credit cards and debit cards which recorded 15.9 million uses on boxing day claim the sales volumes are high. So, what did you do? Saved your money under your mattress, invested in 0.1% in the bank, bought stocks that keep losing you money or went out and shopped?

Keep Money Under Mattress.

The term, “Money Under Mattress” really came from people who are fearful of losing touch with their hard earned cash. My grandmother, bless her soul, used to hide all her savings under her mattress when I was but a child.

When asked, she told me it was because she did not trust anyone else with her money. Back then, it was understandable as even the bankers were seldom trustworthy where we lived.

Now, don’t laugh, that was a habbit I once picked up. But I actually hid a good pile of cash inside a specially made pocket within the mattress itself resulting ain a rather lumpy bed. But, for all intent and purposes, it worked.

Note:
Don’t bother today, there’s nothing there but fluff.

People coming from third world countries often do that. And the old cliche or joke about Chinese folks hiding money under their mattresses was still true up until only a decade or two ago. This was the way they actually felt secure about saving money.

Here’s a true story about an aged aunt long ago.
She had actually outlived her husband by 40 years after the war and had hidden all her cash within her mattress and pillows. She had sewn all that cash within specially made pockets and slept on them for over 4 decades!

After passing on, her very puzzled children looked for her stash in vain (mentioned in her will). One day they decided to dump her bedding and accidentally ripped the mattress. What a bonanza! There was over half a million dollars in cash and bonds for her 2 children to share.

So, in short, the ever loving mattress gave very sweet dreams of financial freedom banking.

Now, cash seekers, today, these older folks are rather more sophisticated and do pad their bank accounts. You’ll have to let them sleep in peace these days.
